Horncastle Porch & Summer house

Upon the successful completion of an oak glazed porch to the rear entrance of this property, we were instructed to construct and build an oak framed summer house, incorporating an oak veranda and 4 king post trusses, 2 with curved cords.

We worked closely with the customer from the design on this project, as the beautiful summer house was to be based overlooking the garden to one aspect, and undisturbed countryside views to the other.

The 4 king post trusses were significant features to this summer house, so we introduced a cat slide roof for the veranda element to ensure that the trusses were undisturbed from the inside.

The inside of the oak framed summer house was then completed with sarking board, offering a truly elegant finish.

The construct of this frame uses traditional techniques, including mortice and tenoned joints pegged together, and direct glazing. The summer house includes two sets of oak patio doors, enabling full versatility and true indoor/outdoor living, whilst the wrap around veranda enables you to enjoy the fresh air whilst undercover whatever the element.

In a beautiful spot this has been one of our favourite oak frames to date.
