After a successful install of a bespoke oak garden room for a kitchen extension to the back of the house, we were commissioned to come back and build a second larger oak garden room to the front.
North Lincolnshire Oak Garden Room with Mansard Roof
The design for this luxury house extension incorporates a mansard roof and large roof lantern to allow for the second story window on the house. This design enabled us to complete the construction without major building works tying into the house.
The house had existing oak French doors to the front, which we utilised and moved into the side of the garden room. This new wider opening created a seamless continuation from the existing lounge into the new timber framed extension. Moving the doors into the side of the garden room offers easy access to beautiful countryside views that wrap around the house, with easy access to the back garden.
This entire frame was constructed from green oak, with air dried oak utilised for the braces to ensure stability to the structure. Glazed on 3 sides, this oak framed extension amplifies the surrounding views and pours light into a previously dark lounge. Direct glazing enables the oak to age and move without any detriment to the glass. The full external frame is cloaked in air dried oak for additional stability to the glazing.
This mansard roof also benefits from a significant roof lantern, pouring more light in through the ceiling and offering an orangery like feel to this space.
The entire custom-built frame was handcrafted in our workshop in Lincolnshire, and transported to site in kit form. This enabled us to erect the frame quickly, with minimum disruption to the client.
This traditional oak garden room project was a full turnkey service, whereby we managed all trades within our scope of works from the foundations up to the plastered finish. This service gave our client a smooth project management experience, and a quick project turnaround.
