Nettleton Timber Framed Summer House

Top Barn Timber Frames were requested to build a beautiful bespoke timber framed summer house that could be enjoyed all year round to enjoy a stunning garden with a backdrop of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

We developed a design that maximised glazing across 3 walls from floor to ceiling, for framing the beautiful views. This custom summerhouse design benefits from a simplified timber frame with king post detailing and braces for both support and aesthetics. The cedar shingle roof allows for this handcrafted garden retreat to blend with the countryside surroundings and age gracefully with the timbers.

As a cost saving measure for this luxury summer house, the main structure was constructed in douglas fir. Direct glazing ensured seamless, framed views. We then cloaked the glazing externally with air dried oak to mirror the frame. The results being an oak framed summer house from the outside, with the clean grains of douglas fir internally.

An insulated back wall, floor and ceiling keeps this space enjoyable all year round, creating a welcoming retreat across the seasons.

The entire frame was handcrafted in our workshop and transported to site in kit form. This enabled us to erect the timber frame quickly, with minimum disruption to the client.

This project was a full turnkey service, whereby we managed all trades within our scope of works from the foundations up to the plastered finish, offering our client a smooth project management experience and a quick project turnaround.
